NEXT EVENT Our next event will take place this coming Saturday at 5pm at IRCOM, 95 Ellen. It is very important event, and we encourage you all to come! We will be talking about what we have accomplished with TOKKUMAA this past year, and talk about what we are planning in the future. THIS IS A GREAT CHANCE TO LET YOUR OPINIONS BE HEARD! We will be having a guest speaker come in who talks to African Youth groups in Winnipeg. Snacks will be provided, and in return of having her speak to us, she will give our group an honourarium, so the more people who come, the better! FOLKLORAMA Folklorama is taking place on the first week of August! We have split up the groups with kids krew and youth krew. The kids practice 2-5pm on Saturdays at IRCOM, and the youth krew practice on Wednesdays at 5-7pm at UofW, Auxilliary room. If anyone is interested in being a part of any of the two dancing krews, please let us know, and we will pracice together! Also if anyone has any music that you would like us to dance to, please bring it in! UPDATE The Oromo Youth Cultural Show held on April 25th, 2009 raised a total of $1500 to go towards the renovations of KAROAD Orphanage in Oromia! It was a successful event, we have many people in to the show from the Oromo Community in Winnipeg, as well as the larger Humanitariam Organizations in Winnipeg. Good job guys! We will psot the pictures of before and after of the orphanage that we helped to renovate soon! Build a Library in Oromia We will have a fundraising event soon where all the proceeds will go to CODE (Canadian Organization of Development Through Education), and the library we adopted.
